In my marketing research I'm learning (more like having a "well, no shit" moment) that stories are one of best ways to teach, build credibility, and resonate with your audience.
Through this process I uncovered a limiting belief of mine that I've been holding onto for a long time:
"You're no good at story-telling. You don't have any meaningful stories to tell. You're better when you just get straight to the point."
Bullshit. That's only true if that's what I choose to believe about myself.
So here's a little story for you about Coach Kenny and his amazing transformation when he confronted his own limiting beliefs that were holding him back from having the business and impact of his dreams.
Maybe you can relate:
Coach Kenny new he could add a lot of value to a lot of people with his skills and passion to help people.
But due to his limiting beliefs about sales and marketing and his deep, almost imperceptible insecurity about who he was and his own self-worth, he never advertised his services and just hoped that people would show up at his door out of good nature.
Not many people showed up.
Don’t get me wrong, there were a few that did and he was able to radically change their lives and he received deep fulfillment because of that.
But he still knew he wasn’t living up to his full potential and making the impact he wanted to make. And even with his small clientele he was feeling burnt out and like he was sacrificing his own health for others.
He knew this wasn’t going to be sustainable.
So he started doing some research and came to the realization that even a coach needs a coach.
So he hired a business coach and one of the first things he learned was that his ability to serve at the level he wanted to serve was a direct reflection of his own beliefs about himself and the world around him.
He realized that marketing and sales wasn’t just a chore that only scammy business people get into. In fact, it was his duty to be the best marketer and salesman he could possibly be because that was how he was going to have the impact he knew he was meant to have.
He realized that sales IS service.
And then he started receiving more clients than he knew what to do with. And with that he also started making more money than he knew what to do with because he was no longer afraid to charge what he was worth.
So his business coach helped him create better systems that allowed him to help even more people and make even more money. His coach also showed him how to structure his life so that he could be as effective as possible with his time and ensure that he was improving in all areas of his life so he could continue to pursue his mission without burning himself out.
Coach Kenny was a little scared to pay what seemed like a huge amount to his business coach, but now he can’t wait to invest even more money in himself because he sees how that money has returned to him 100x over in way less time than if he were to try to do it all himself.
In fact, who he has become through the process is worth more than any dollar amount.
And now Coach Kenny is the happiest, healthiest, wealthiest, and strongest he’s ever been and he’s certain he’s got a foundation that he can build his legacy upon and carry him through the rest of his amazing life.
Be like Coach Kenny.
