My entire approach to life changed once I understood this concept...
Part of my life's mission has been to get down to the basic principles of how things work -- whether that's the human body, the psyche, the soul, business, the world, or the entire Universe.
The more I continue to dig, the more I find myself coming to the same place. It's as if each thread I pull eventually leads to the same source.
I can sum up this principle in a simple equation:
0 = 1 = 2 = 3 = ∞ = 1 = 0
I know that may not make sense from a rational point of view, but let me explain.
Out of no-thingness (0) comes everything (1). Everything has no way to experience and know itself so it creates the illusion of separation through the creation of complementary opposites -- yin/yang, positive/negative, masculine/feminine, dark/light, hot/cold, day/night (2). The intermingling (balancing/rebalancing) of these complementary opposites births a third (3), which is a combination of the two. These combinations (or potential experiences) are infinite (∞) because they are a product of the everything. All of these combinations and experiences eventually (although time-space has no meaning to the everything) lead the infinite combination of things to remember itself as one with the everything (1), which has no context without the no-thingness (0).
This may sound a bit complex, but what this ultimately means for you is that the whole point of you having the experience you're having that seems so real and separate from the experience other people may be having is so that you can ultimately come to remember yourself as one with everything else. This can only happen through the illusion of separation that provides the condition to be in relationship with other beings because the only way for everything/oneness/GOD to know itself by having an experience of itself.
So when it comes to your own personal evolution, anything that reinforces the illusion of separation -- your ego, fear, possessiveness, etc. (while all necessary) -- will ultimately bring about opportunities for you to learn and grow and come to remember yourself as ALL OF IT. These opportunities typically (but not always) show up in experiences that create pain -- whether physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual.
The secret to evolution, then, is to realize that we all start the same and we're all going to the same place in the end. We're all different rivers flowing to the same ocean. And the more you engage with the challenges in your life and learn to grow through them, the more you will be able to accelerate your evolution and live more fully into your highest potential.
Once you recognize this fundamental principle, you can witness and apply it across the board to any area of life.
The hardest part of this is being able to see and move beyond your own self-limiting beliefs about who you are and how you fit in to the infinite puzzle of the Universe.
That is ALL.
